Pediatric Dentistry is the specialty that diagnoses and treats various oral diseases from infancy until the completion of growth. During childhood, parents or guardians—together with their trusted dentist—play a key role in instilling proper hygiene habits to ensure lifelong oral health.

INFORMATION ON TRATMENTS
NOT COVERED BY PADI
Pit and Fissure Sealants
Sealants are a very thin protective layer that we place on the pits and fissures of molars to prevent plaque and bacteria from accumulating. They act like a “shield” that helps prevent cavities in the areas of teeth that are hardest to keep clean.
Step-by-Step Process
Cleaning the tooth with a special brush.
Drying the tooth and isolating it to avoid saliva.
Applying a gentle gel that prepares the surface.
Placing the liquid sealant.
Hardening with a special light.
Pulpectomy
A pulpectomy is a treatment similar to a root canal, but performed on baby teeth. It is done when a deep cavity has reached the nerve of the primary tooth, but we want to preserve it until its natural time to fall out.
Step-by-Step Process
Applying local anesthesia so the child feels no discomfort.
Opening the tooth to access the damaged nerve.
Removing the infected tissue.
Carefully disinfecting the area.
Filling the canal with a biocompatible material.
Sealing the tooth with a restoration (filling or pediatric crown, depending on the case).
Dental Filling (Restoration)
A filling, or restoration, is the most common treatment to repair a cavity. Its goal is to stop the progression of decay and restore the tooth’s shape and function.
Step-by-Step Process
Examining the cavity and applying anesthesia if needed.
Removing the damaged part of the tooth.
Cleaning and preparing the cavity.
Placing the filling material (tooth-colored resin).
Shaping and polishing so it looks natural and feels comfortable when biting.
Pediatric orthodontics
Orthodontics in children not only aligns teeth but also helps guide the growth of the jawbones and prevent future problems. Treatment may involve removable appliances, fixed braces, or clear aligners depending on the child’s age and needs.
Step-by-Step Process
First visit and full study (photos, X-rays, and impressions).
Personalized treatment plan for each child.
Placement of the appliance (removable, braces, or aligners).
Regular check-ups to adjust and monitor progress.
Removal of the appliance and retention phase to maintain results.
Fluoride application
Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and makes teeth more resistant to cavities. In-office application is quick, safe, and effective.
Step-by-Step Process
Dental cleaning to remove plaque.
Isolating the area for better fluoride absorption.
Applying fluoride gel, foam, or varnish on the teeth.
Waiting time to allow proper absorption.
Post-treatment recommendations (no rinsing or eating for a short period).
* Each of these treatments is performed in a simple way, adapted to your child’s age, always aiming to make the experience comfortable and positive.
